Course
This is going to be FUN!
Get ready for a fantastic trail course!
Expect a true wilderness experience in the deep forests of the Bronx.
The trails are all well maintained. Little technical trail conditions should be expected.
The trails are a mix of packed dirt, small granular rock, and crushed soft leaf surfaces.
There are long flat sections and short challenging climbs and descents.
The course will be marked well with white flour powder, directional signs, and ghostly figures!!
The Start for this event will be at the Van Cortlandt House Museum, 200 yards closer to the 1 Train than the previous start.
NOTE: for Halloween we will be using alternative run course approved by the NYC Parks Dept. because there is a conflict with other runs on the cross country trails. This alternative course will primarily use the Old Croton Aqueduct and Putnam Trails. The loop/course is 3.275 miles long and starts/finishes very close to the Van Cortlandt House Museum. Please see map below for details.
All runners should write their name and finishing time in our record books located at the start/finish line!
NEW 5k COURSE! The 5k option for this race will be one loop of the 3.275 mile course. Note that this loop is not wheelchair accessible but we hope the Parks Dept will grant us permits for future races at our standard start location at the Tortoise & Hare so we can again encourage and accommodate wheelchair users.
1/4 marathon
The quarter marathon is 2 full loops.
1/2 Marathon
The half marathon is 4 full loops.
3/4 Marathon
This will be 6 full loops.
Marathon!
The marathon consists of 8 full loops. This is the only TRAIL marathon in New York City!

It would be nice to see the actual trail for the 10K, Marathon maybe some can record the trail and publish the course.
Hi Science,
If you check some of our other race sites, we have photos published of the course:

It’s an absolutely beautiful trail; plenty of cover, running through the woods, and very runnable with mostly dirt and crushed stone paths.
Will the 5K still be flat and on pavement?
thanks.
The course is mainly flat but on trails. A beautiful run through the woods!
See you there.
